About Us
NorthStar ESG Advisory was founded by Philip Hyland, a climate and sustainability professional with over 15 years’ experience in infrastructure, strategy, and public policy. The consultancy was created to provide credible, flexible ESG expertise for organisations that want to accelerate their sustainability journey—without the cost or commitment of a full-time hire.
Philip combines commercial, operational, and ESG delivery expertise, having led science-based target submissions, developed net zero roadmaps aligned with national climate goals, and supported Scope 1, 2, and 3 emissions reductions for large organisations in tourism, hospitality, infrastructure, and the public sector.
Holding an MSc in Climate Change Policy, Media and Society, and a Graduate Diploma in Life Cycle Assessment and Carbon Accounting, Philip helps organisations understand their carbon impact, manage climate-related risks, and align with evolving regulatory frameworks including SBTi, CSRD, and ISO 14001, ISO 14040 and ISO 14044, ISO 14064 and ISO 14067.
